Brooklyn Crescents Lacrosse 2013 Spring Season - Midweek Practices


The spring season of 2013 represents a step forward in the teaching and growing of the game for Brooklyn Crescents Lacrosse Club. We are introducing new partnerships on and off the field and offering more opportunities for our players to learn & play the sport of lacrosse.

One of the biggest additions we are introducing is a midweek practice for our 3rd through 8th graders. This was accomplished with the continued support of Poly Prep by allowing additional access to their facilities and by the volunteer coaches stepping up to support these practices. Our goal is to accelerate our players' skill development and lacrosse acumen by providing more opportunities to play the game.  The weekday sessions are designed to focus on specific skill development, while the weekend sessions will focus more on team concepts.

We hope that most Crescents can attend the weekday and weekend sessions during our 15 week spring season. However, we recognize that getting to all weekday practices may be difficult for some players. And because of that we will also be circulating a home workout program (wall ball and stick handling focused) that players can do on their own. Obviously this is not a direct replacement for the weekday practice session, but it will give the players some guidance on skill improvement. The expectation is that every player will spend an additional 60 minutes of lacrosse time on skill development in addition to his or her practices. We are counting on players, with the help of their parents, to meet the challenge of finding at least 60 minutes of lacrosse time during the week outside of the weekend sessions. This additional 60 minutes breaks down into 4 sessions of 15 minutes.
Naturally players/families making the commitment to the midweek team workouts can expect more rapid improvement from week to week, translating into increased confidence.

The Brooklyn Crescents 2013 Spring Season
  • Runs from March 3rd to June 16th
  • Poly Prep Upper School is our primary practice field (7th Avenue and 92nd Street in Dyker Heights/Bay Ridge, Brooklyn). The largest lacrosse facility in NYC.
  • 3rd - 8th grade teams play weekend games against other youth teams in the tri-state area in tournaments and individual games.
  • We will be holding beginner clinics in downtown Brooklyn, Crown Heights & Dyker Heights.
