PEE WEE PROGRAM

Pee-Wee Lacrosse Program: Co- ed

 

FALL SCHEDULE:

10 Sundays (Brooklyn location) (10 Saturday's at Trinity School) Sept- Nov

Each practice will be 1 hour

 

The foundation of the pee wee program is to develop our young athletes in a "fun" and "active" environment. This co-ed, non-contact program will introduce the basic lacrosse skills. Our goal is to teach hand-eye coordination while learning the fundamentals of lacrosse - catching, throwing, ground balls and communicating with one another. Gives the youngest players the opportunity to develop basic movement skills like running, jumping, landing, scooping, throwing and catching in a fun setting built around informal play and positive reinforcement These skills will lead them to the next level of team play. Sessions will include skill instruction and fun activities that build on previously learned skills.

 

INSTRUCTORS: Crescents Pee Wee Program Directors, Kassim Howell and Bevin Walsh will instruct this program with the assistance of student and parent volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering for this program please contact . No prior experience is necessary.

 

REGISTRATION: Registration opens in JUNE for fall programs. Registration can be completed on-line at www.brooklyncrescents.com. Payment must be paid in full before the first practice of the season.

 

LOCATION: The program will be held in 3 locations: Poly Prep Day School, Mclaughlin Park or Trinity School, Manhattan

 

EQUIPMENT: For both boys and girls a lacrosse stick is the only necessary piece of equipment, loaner sticks may be available. Gloves, Goggles and any additional equipment are optional.

 

(Program cost is not adjusted if dates of program are adjusted due to field conditions)

 

Our Pee Wee Program will follow US Lacrosse Athlete Development Model Stage 1

 

 

 


CRESCENTS BLUE PROGRAM: AGES 7-14 Boys and Girls

 

FALL Lacrosse Program for children Age 7-14.

Teams organized by age 7u/8u, 9u/10u, 11u/12u, 13u/14u (see chart below for more info)

 

FALL SCHEDULE:

10 Sundays: Sept- Nov with an optional weeknight practice

9u and older Each practice will be 1.5 hour (8U practice will be 1 hour)

 

The foundation of the Crescents Fall program is to develop our young athletes in a challenging and fun environment. This program will focus on introducing players to basic lacrosse skills and will utilize a progression based curriculum. Our goal is to teach the fundamentals of lacrosse - catching, throwing, cradling,  ground balls and teamwork. The development of these skills will lead them to the next level of team play. Practice sessions will include skill instruction and fun activities that build on previously learned skills. The season includes 1-2 games/tournaments for participants 9u and older.
 

INSTRUCTORS: Crescents Girls and Boys Program Directors, Lauren Burrows, Andy Simons, Carol Fiore and Todd Ernst will oversee this program with the assistance of a number of qualified and trained volunteer coaches. EQUIPMENT:

  • Boys: Lacrosse stick, gloves, mouthpiece are necessary . All players, with the exception of the goalkeeper, must wear shoulder pads. Arm pads are required and rib pads are strongly recommended, and often required, as are athletic supporters and protective cups for all players.

 

  • Girls: Lacrosse stick, goggles and mouthpiece are required. Gloves are optional.

Crescents Program: Orange Boys and Girls TRAVEL

 

All Players that register for blue will be evaluated and invited to participate on Orange Teams.

 

Teams organized by age 9u/10u, 11u/12u, 13u/14u

 

FALL SCHEDULE:

10 Sundays: Sept- Nov with an additional weeknight practice.

Orange also includes Trilogy Lacrosse Clinics and other specialty clinics.

Each practice will be 1.5 -2 hours

 

BOYS AND GIRLS ORANGE TEAMS 2019/2020

9/10U, 11/12U and 13/14U

 
The Crescents Orange program is to designed to be a challenging and competitive program. Participants will be coached by professional coaches and are expected to put in maximum effort. This program will continue to build on fundamental lacrosse skills, while incorporating more complex big picture concepts and will include highly competitive playing opportunities. Our goal is to provide an environment for each athlete to be challenged and continue develop their skills while learning the importance of being committed to a team.
 

Fall Overview: The Orange (TRAVEL) teams compete at the highest levels of lacrosse in the area.

The fall season includes one weekend practice (Sunday) and one weekday practice per week at Poly Prep and several games/tournaments. It will also include all specialty clinics including Trilogy Clinics.

All players invited to play on Orange teams in the fall will be guaranteed a spot on the winter/spring program teams. (Must complete registration prior to start of winter program to secure your spot)

Remaining Orange team spots will be filled for spring season, during winter programming.

Assessments: All players will be assessed during the first week of practice, everyone should begin by registering for blue. ALL PLAYERS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND THE WEEKDAY PRACTICE THE FIRST WEEK IF THEY ARE INTERESTED IN PLAYING ON ORANGE. Coaches will then make recommendations and we will reach out to families. Any player not invited to play on Orange will automatically be placed on the blue team.

Games/Tournaments: Most game and tournament play will be to be on Sundays in LI, NJ,Westchester or NYC. However, there is likely to be Saturday game and tournament play as well. The full game and tournament schedule will be available prior to the start of season.

 

Winter : Winter Program is included with Spring Orange registration.

Any players that participate on Fall orange teams will be guaranteed a spot on winter/spring teams but they must complete Spring registration prior to the start of winter lacrosse to keep their spot.

Winter practices will be at Socceroof in Sunset Park, Brooklyn

Boys Practice will be 10-11:30 | Girls Practice will be 11:30- 1

During the winter program, there will be assessments available for players who did not play lacrosse in the fall but are interested in joining the Orange teams.

Spring Orange Program: The Spring Orange program will begin in March and run through mid-June; the Winter season is included in Spring registration. It will require a significant level of commitment. There will be at least one weekday practice and one weekend practice. Some weekends will include both tournament/game play and practice. There will also be a trip to US LACROSSE HEADQUARTERS and participation in Brine Lax Splash May 29-31, 2020
